Job Description
Lilac Services for the Blind is a non-profit agency offering independent living training and products to adults in Eastern and North Central Washington who are blind or have low vision. We are seeking a full-time and a part-time instructor. The successful candidate will be responsible for the scheduling, planning, execution, and documentation of rehabilitation services provided to our clients.

Qualifications:
-
Desire to work independently, collaboratively, and cooperatively with co-workers, clients, and the public.

Ability to think independently, problem-solve, and execute assigned tasks.
-
Knowledge and understanding of the principles of adult education and essential independent living skills.
Education:
-
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in special education, vision rehabilitation therapy, and/or orientation and mobility.
-
ACVREP certification is preferred but not required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
-
Provide rehabilitation instruction in the community and offices.
-
Conduct thorough assessments to determine individual goals and needs within the home and community environments.

Develop a personalized training plan addressing the client’s goals.
-
Teach skills needed for independent living in areas of personal management, household management, communication, leisure activities, orientation and mobility, and use of low-vision devices.

Recommend appropriate specialized evaluations as needed.

Instruct clients in using current assistive technology.

Document progress and outcomes and complete all reporting within established contractual guidelines.

Provide continuous and regular visits to meet identified goals and achieve successful outcomes.

Participate in agency functions.

Perform other duties as needed or assigned.
